IWBD Special Edition: Ebru Tuygun, Advisory Board Chairwoman IWBD CEO, GVGL Marketing Management

Can you tell us about your childhood and how your early experiences shaped the person you are today?

I grew up in an environment that valued education, curiosity, and resilience. From an early age, I was drawn to storytelling and the power of communication, which later became the foundation of my career in marketing and brand management. Moving between different cultures and adapting to change shaped my ability to navigate uncertainty and embrace transformation—a theme that has followed me throughout my career.

What inspired you to pursue a career in marketing and leadership, and what were some of the biggest challenges you faced along the way?

I was always fascinated by the intersection of strategy, creativity, and human connection. Marketing allows me to bring these elements together, shaping narratives that inspire action and create impact. Throughout my career, I have faced challenges such as organizational shifts, navigating crisis communications, and leading teams through uncertainty. However, these moments reinforced my belief in reinvention, adaptability, and the importance of staying connected to one’s core values.

As the CEO of GVGL Marketing, what is your leadership philosophy, and how do you drive innovation in the marketing industry?

My leadership philosophy is rooted in agility, purpose, and impact. I believe in empowering teams to think beyond traditional frameworks, fostering a culture of continuous learning, and integrating creativity with data-driven insights. Innovation comes from embracing new perspectives, experimenting with bold ideas, and staying ahead of evolving industry trends.

Being the Advisory Board Chairwoman at IWBD, what is your mission in this role, and how does it contribute to empowering businesses and individuals?

At IWBD, my mission is to create a space where women leaders can access opportunities, knowledge, and networks to break barriers in leadership. We focus on advancing gender equity in boardrooms, supporting DEI strategies in organizations, and fostering a strong community of women who uplift one another. By influencing corporate policies and empowering individuals, we aim to create long-lasting change.

What are some of the most significant milestones in your career that you are particularly proud of?

I take pride in the strategic transformations I have led, such as developing employer branding initiatives for global brands like Bayer and Hilton, shaping marketing culture in multinational organizations, and driving impactful programs in creativity through GVGL’s partnership with XFacta. Being recognized as one of the top 10 CMOs in the Middle East and receiving accolades like the Women in Martech Vibe Award and Asia’s 100 Women Power Leaders 2023 are also moments of great honor.

What is your vision for GVGL Marketing and IWBD, and how do you see these organizations making a long-term impact?

GVGL Marketing is committed to shaping future-forward marketing strategies that integrate brand purpose, culture, and innovation. Our impact goes beyond campaigns—we help businesses navigate transformation and build meaningful connections with their audiences. With IWBD, my vision is to drive systemic change in leadership by advocating for more women in decision-making roles and supporting organizations in building inclusive leadership cultures.

How does your work help uplift businesses and professionals, especially in today’s dynamic and competitive market?

In a rapidly evolving world, businesses need to stay agile and authentic. Through GVGL, we help brands align their strategies with cultural shifts, technological advancements, and human-centric storytelling. On the professional side, my work in leadership development, mentorship, and employer branding empowers individuals to embrace growth, take ownership of their careers, and lead with confidence.

You have played a major role in leadership and advisory positions—how do you mentor and inspire the next generation of leaders?

Mentorship is about sharing knowledge, fostering confidence, and providing access to opportunities. I focus on guiding emerging leaders through storytelling, strategic thinking, and adaptability. Whether through formal mentorship programs, advisory roles, or speaking engagements, I aim to equip the next generation with the tools and mindset to navigate change and lead with impact.

Balancing leadership roles can be demanding—how do you manage work-life balance and stay motivated?

I believe in designing a life that aligns with my values. Prioritizing self-care, staying connected with loved ones, and setting clear boundaries help me maintain balance. I also find motivation in continuous learning, whether through travel, executive programs, or simply engaging with new ideas and perspectives.

What are some daily habits or principles that help you maintain success and personal well-being?

Consistency and discipline are key. I start my day with reflection, set clear goals, and create time for personal growth. I also prioritize mindfulness, exercise, and staying engaged with industry trends. Surrounding myself with inspiring people and maintaining a curious mindset keeps me energized and focused.

What are your future goals, and what exciting projects or initiatives are you currently working on?

I am focused on expanding GVGL’s strategic partnerships, driving innovation in brand culture and employer branding, and amplifying the impact of IWBD globally. Additionally, I am exploring new ways to merge creativity with technology, fostering leadership programs that equip professionals with the skills to navigate the future of work.

What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs and leaders, especially women, looking to make a difference in their industries?

Own your narrative and embrace reinvention. The world is constantly changing, and the ability to adapt while staying true to your values is a powerful advantage. Build strong networks, invest in continuous learning, and never be afraid to take bold steps. Most importantly, support and uplift others—success is most meaningful when shared.
